Vermentino di Gallura:  Sandy clay on a granite base is the characteristic soil of this beautiful northern tip of Sardinia. Straw yellow the regular, amber gold the Liquoroso type.

DOC:
Alghero: Includes the plains between Alghero and Sassari. White. Dry still, dry sparkling, sweet still
Arborea:  Wide area along the Tirso River toward Oristano, predominately alluvial soil. White. Dry still, sweet still

Campidano di Terralba or Terralba: Plains south of Oristano.  Red, dry still. Harmonious and aromatic.

Cannonau di Sardegna: Cultivated throughout the island.  Different nuances of light red with orange highlights. Dry still, dry sparkling, fortified.
  Sub-denominations: Capoferrato, Jerzu, Oliena o Nepente di Oliena

Carignano del Sulci: The southwestern Sulcis area, including the islands of San'Antioco and San Pietro. Dry still, sweet still.

Girò di Cagliari: Large part of southwestern Sardinia.  Light ruby red. Velvety, warm and pleasant.

Malvasia di Bosa: The Planargia hills, on the coast north of Oristano.  From semi-sweet to dry, alcoholic, with bitter finish.

Malvasia di Cagliari: Large part of southwestern Sardinia.  From semi-sweet to dry, alcoholic, with bitter finish reminiscent of toasted almonds.

Mandrolisai:  Rocky soil on the wild Barbagia hills. Dry still.

Monica di Sardegna: Cultivated all over the region.  Light and brilliant ruby red turning toward purple with age. 
Sapid and dry with characteristic finish. Pleasant and intense.

Moscato di Cagliari: Large part of southwestern Sardinia.  Bright golden yellow. Sweet and velvety, reminiscent of the original grape.  Intense and characteristic.

  Sub-denominations: Tempio o Gallura

Moscato di Sorso-Sennori: Comprised of the two contiguous municipalities of Sorso and Sennori, near the     northern coast of Sardinia.  Bright golden yellow. Sweet and velvety.
 
Nasco di Cagliari:  large part of southwestern Sardinia.  White. Dry still, dry sparkling, sweet still

Nuragus di Cagliari: Large part of southwestern Sardinia.  White. Dry and lightly acidic.

Sardegna Semidano:  Cultivated all over the island. White. Dry still, dry sparkling, sweet sparkling, sweet still.

Vermentino di Sardegna:  Cultivated all over the island. White.  Aromatic with slightly bitter finish.
 
Vernaccia di Oristano:  Mostly alluvial plains and river valleys in the Oristano area on the Sardinian west coast.  White.  Fine, dry, warm, with bitter almond finish. Delicate with light scent of almond flowers.
